"The design team at TruDomes have created several solutions for keeping geodesic glamping domes comfortable in any weather".
The Glamping Industry has enjoyed more growth in the past decade than ever before. TruDomes are taking to the international stage and popping up in far-flung corners of the world. From humble beginnings in our Nuneaton manufacturing factory, TruDomes are globetrotting to warmer climates and top holiday destinations!
One such sunspot added to the map is Corfu. This picturesque spot isn’t per se a glampsite, but more of a unique Airbnb. This Airbnb ‘dome from home’ is nestled on a rural hillside with scenic ocean views. It boasts an alfresco dining area and stunning panoramic views from the dome… this is what dreams are made of.
Just how practical are TruDomes in the heat?
Geodesic Domes are famous for their weather resistance; despite the most testing and extreme weather conditions (from record-breaking wind speeds to heavy rain and freezing temperatures), TruDomes stand firm. When it’s hot, nobody wants to be stuck in a stuffy hotel room with no air-con or reverting to the old-school handheld fan to keep cool. TruDomes’ superpower is the ability to create bespoke solutions for any environment through innovation.
How well do these geodesic dome structures stay cool in the beating sun?
Geodesic domes are often officially classed as temporary demountable structures (such as tents). Tents are notorious for exaggerated temperatures when it’s particularly cool or hot. Fortunately, the design team at TruDomes have created several solutions for outclassing their counterparts and keeping domes comfortable in any weather. The Corfu Glamping Dome has an installed air con unit, which is a fantastic option to ensure that the dome is kept cool. However, if your Glampsite is off-grid, or you are looking for a more financially economical option; a solar extraction fan can easily be added to your bespoke dome package.
TruDomes Geodesic Dome – Cooling Innovations
Our solar-powered fan supports natural ventilation and efficient air circulation, which prevents moisture build-up and condensation. The solar extraction fans sit at the top of the dome, which is an optimal option in a sunny location. When hot air rises, the extraction fan keeps air flowing and extracts the hot air from the dome.
Aside from the traditional air con and solar-powered fan options, TruDomes have developed several helpful design features. These include roll-up and porthole windows that assist in regulating temperatures and allow the dome to circulate air. Additionally, TruDomes designed a bespoke stable door option new to 2022, which will be exhibited at The Glamping Show 2022. The stable door allows the top half of the dome door to open and invites air into the dome. Finally, TruDomes are available in many colours, but white will help reflect the sun’s powerful rays.
If you want to look and stay cool this summer the only thing left to do is search for your dream dome holiday destination! Perhaps you’ve been inspired, and Corfu dome adventures are next on your wanderlust list?
