So, you’re going glamping for the first time…we know you’ll love it! We also know that it can be a bit daunting when you decide to take on the great outdoors (albeit with a comfy bed in sight) so we’ve made a list of the most important things to remember before you go.

  1. It gets cold at night

Even with insulation, the temperature drop at night will affect the temperature inside whichever structure you’ve chosen. Make sure you bring some cosy slippers and fluffy blankets and you’ll feel right at home. And of course, don’t forget the marshmallows for the fire…

  1. Self-catering is just that!

Most glamping options are self-catered so make sure you’re prepared with everything you need. While better than cooking over a portable gas stove, the amenities could still be a little short of what you’re used to at home. Don’t be afraid to ask the site owner if any utensils are included and bring what you’ll need for a comfortable stay.

  1. Canvas – or PVC – doesn’t stop sound

It may be thicker than tent fabric, but that doesn’t mean it’s as soundproof as a brick wall! Be mindful of any neighbours or choose a site where you’ll have plenty of space if you want to play music or don’t want to be disturbed by others.

  1. Less can be more

Don’t get drawn into a glampsite that promises too much in the way of luxury – glamping is a more comfortable way of experiencing nature, but you don’t want to miss it completely! Do you research and remember to read reviews before settling on the best spot for you.

  1. It might rain…

This is Britain, after all! Even if the forecasts are sunshine all the way, it’s better to be prepared and you’ll be thankful you packed that raincoat and umbrella if they’re needed.
