Meet the Team: Behind the Scenes at TruDomes – Ross Priddy, Tensile Structure Co-ordinator

Posted on 28 November 2024

From Catering Manager to Dome Enthusiast

With a background in catering management, including a stint as Catering Manager at Coventry University, organisation and efficiency have always been Ross’s strong points. Making sure everything runs smoothly has been second nature—skills that have come in handy at TruDomes.

A Passion for the Outdoors

As someone who loves camping and outdoor adventures, joining TruDomes was ideal. “It was the perfect way to combine my personal interests with work,” Ross said. The switch from catering to geodome manufacturing turned out to be an exciting and rewarding move.

What’s a Typical Day Like?

At TruDomes, no two days are the same. Whether it’s pressing dome tubes, helping with product assembly, or getting pallets ready for shipment, he’s always hands-on. “I love the variety—there’s always something different to work on.”

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Good organisation and clear communication are essential to Ross’s role. “The coolest thing about making domes is how much teamwork it takes. Everyone—from the designers to the delivery crew—works together to get it just right.”

Challenges and Exciting Goals

One of the biggest challenges so far has been learning the ropes with all of TruDomes’ different products and finishes. But thanks to the supportive team, he’s picked it up quickly.

Life Outside of TruDomes

When Ross isn’t working he enjoys visiting air shows and soaking in all things aviation. He also loves camping with friends and getting behind the camera for some travel photography.

And here’s a fun fact: he once abseiled down Coventry Cathedral for charity—talk about adventurous!

Dream Travel and Other Career Paths

If Ross could go anywhere, New Zealand would be the top pick. “I’ve got family there, and I’d love to see the amazing landscapes and try some outdoor adventures.”

Ross initially joined TruDomes while completing his Class 2 driving qualification, intending it as a short-term role. But he quickly decided to stay—he enjoyed it too much to leave.

We’re lucky to have such a passionate and hardworking person on the team. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes stories at TruDomes, and feel free to reach out if you’d like to learn more about our incredible domes.
