High above London, Up at The O2 is known for giving visitors a unique perspective of the capital. But in 2024, the experience was transformed into something truly magical with the introduction of a life-sized geodesic Snow Globe.
The idea began back in 2017, when Daniel Hurst, Head of Attraction at Up at The O2, saw a family enjoying a small snow globe at a Christmas market. Years later, that simple moment became the inspiration for an unforgettable festive experience 52 metres above London.
The Challenge
Turning a small Christmas market snow globe into a full-sized immersive experience high above London presented some serious practical challenges.
The structure needed to be lightweight enough for its elevated location, while also being weatherproof, durable and safe. At the same time, it had to create the magical atmosphere envisioned for the Snow Globe.

The Solution
TruDomes designed and supplied a bespoke geodesic dome to bring the Snow Globe concept to life.
Manufactured from aircraft-grade aluminium, the structure provides a lightweight yet durable solution, while its rust-free construction makes it well suited to the exposed rooftop environment.
Inside, the dome was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with falling snow, seasonal aromas and spectacular views across London.

The Snow Globe opened on 22 November 2024 as part of the Up at The O2 guided climb, giving visitors the chance to step inside a magical Christmas experience high above the city.
