Nestled on Scotland’s west coast on the Kintyre Peninsula, Torrisdale Castle Estate is a destination shaped by landscape, heritage and creativity. With luxury accommodation, a working distillery and a welcoming café, the estate offers visitors a unique mix of experiences.
As the business evolved, owners Niall and Emma wanted to create a flexible space that could bring people together for wellness sessions, celebrations, dining and community events while standing up to the unpredictable west coast weather.
In May 2024, they introduced a TruDomes geodesic dome, creating a striking new event space that has added another dimension to the estate.
The Challenge
As Torrisdale Castle Estate grew, so did demand for larger and more varied experiences.
Existing indoor spaces worked well for smaller activities but they were limited when it came to hosting bigger, more immersive events.
The estate needed a way to expand its event offering without the cost, complexity and permanence of a traditional building.
Key requirements included:

The Solution
The answer was a TruDomes geodesic dome – a flexible and adaptable event space that could be used in a variety of ways.
Installed by the Torrisdale team, the dome quickly became a versatile addition to the estate, providing a larger space for events while retaining the freedom to adapt the venue to different uses.
Its durability was put to the ultimate test in early 2025 when severe storms brought winds of up to 90 mph to the west coast. While trees fell across the estate, the dome stood firm.

The dome can transform from a calm wellness setting for yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi and sound baths into a vibrant venue for weddings, hen parties, anniversary dinners and birthday celebrations. It also provides a space for craft fairs, pop-up markets and community events.
