Top Tips For Eco-Friendly Glamping

Posted on 26 November 2019

Glamping is firmly in the travel spotlight at the moment, and a large part of its appeal is the ease of making it an eco-friendly holiday. There are plenty of ways you can make sure your trip is as eco-friendly as possible, and we’ve added our top tips to help you enjoy the luxury of glamping with complete peace of mind.

Ditch the electronics

We’ll start with the hardest one…leaving your electronics at home! If you’re going away to get back to nature, minimising the distractions of everyday life is a must – and by deciding not to bring electronic devices you’ll be saving precious energy and helping our planet.

Of course, you could also compromise and use solar charging for the devices you simply can’t leave behind…

Reuse, reuse, reuse!

It may surprise you, but a lot of people will tell you it’s easier to bring disposable plates, cups and cutlery – after all, who wants to wash up on holiday? If you’re really looking to minimise waste, five minutes spent on the washing up will barely impact your holiday and the saved trees will thank you.

“Take only pictures, leave only footprints”

A beautiful sentiment, and vital for respecting and preserving some of our most beautiful natural areas. Just think before you take that leaf or pick that flower; would a picture do instead? You’ll still preserve your memories and you won’t have to worry about keeping delicate keepsakes safe on your return journey!

Choose secondhand

From ditching fast fashion to Marie Kondo’s Netflix success, secondhand buying is enjoying a surge in popularity and for good reason – it really is a great way to help the environment by giving items new life. So when you’re stocking up on accessories and equipment for your trip, why not check out charity shops or secondhand websites first?
