Why Choose A Geodesic Dome For Your Glamping Business?

Posted on 27 April 2022

When starting a glamping business, one of the first questions that you will inevitably come to is what outdoor accommodation to choose for your guests. Some people may already have their heart set on a particular structure, but for others, there’s a lot of choice out there and it’s an investment that you want to get right.

Without having any experience of outdoor accommodation, it can be tricky to know for sure which is the right choice for you and your guests. We would recommend visiting The Glamping Show 2021, and really getting a feel for the pros and cons of many glamping accommodation options. In the meantime, we’ve drawn up some comparisons between some popular options and a few reasons why the geodesic dome is becoming increasingly popular.

So, geodesic domes, what’s the deal? Geodesic domes are exceptionally strong, from an engineering perspective they offer superior strength and durability, and they are the only man-made structure that gets proportionally stronger as they increase in size – fun fact! They are energy efficient and promote increased air circulation to keep temperatures regulated throughout the dome.

Because of their unique shape and structure, they are highly resistant to wind, rain, snow… you name it. Geodomes have even been known to resist hurricanes, owing to having minimal flat surfaces. Aside from all the practical reasons to choose a geodome for your glamping dome from home, they have an individual appearance and stand out from the crowd, making them a novel holiday accommodation experience for guests.

Our friends at Tractors & Cream, a glampsite nestled in Somerset as seen on “My Unique B&B” BBC 2, are dome converts and love their TruDomes glamping dome. Vicki initially invested in bell tents to compliment her two existing yurts, before finding out about geodomes, “we thought, let’s try a bell tent as it’s a small initial outlay…. However, the bell tents were not very wind resistant”.

Vicki said “We were looking at what was going to be wind resistant and settled on a dome – it’s the best choice. Guests have had an amazing reaction to them, and really love them”. Tractors & Cream was established in 2017 and has gone from strength to strength since, Vicki said, “It’s hard work but I love it – it’s brilliant running a glampsite, we have such lovely families who come and stay with us”.

TruDomes glamping domes are structurally certified to British & European Standards; designed and manufactured in Britain, using high quality marquee grade PVC and aircraft grade aluminium – they are made to last.

So, if you are looking for a long term, all-weather accommodation solution, that is cost effective and helps you grow your business with a quick ROI, then a dome could be the answer!
